CARAPACE meaning “the hard upper shell of a tortoise, crustacean…” was a group Exhibition of seven artists held in The Complex Dublin City Centre. The work was exploring protection, isolation and disconnection. Carapace  also explored falsehoods and relationship to identity.  I made these encaustic paintings which  were layered with paint and layered again. These pieces were an exploration of surface. The experience of encaustic is tactile and the solidity of the wax paint married very well with the theme of the Exhibition.
